Faith in an Amazing God (1 of 9)
Series: Elisha

2 Kings 2
Today, we begin a brand new series on the life of Elisha. This could be considered a sequel to the series on Elijah at the end of 2015. Of course, as many of you know, Elisha's ministry immediately followed Elijah's. I've entitled this series, A Life of Amazing Faith. And if you look at Elisha's life, you will discover it was truly amazing.
You will most likely hear this word, ''amazing,'' a good bit throughout this series. As you look at the life of Elisha you will see many amazing things. Today from 2 Kings 2, we see Faith in an Amazing God.

Let's be honest, ''amazing,'' can be an overused word. As a matter of fact, you may or may not know this, but Lake Superior State University puts out a list of banished words each year. These are words that they say should be ''banished from the Queen's English for misuses, overuses, and general uselessness.'' You should really check out their website; it's hilarious to see some of the words and phrases that they say people are getting tired of. But in 2012 the word ''amazing'' was actually number one on the list. In other words, they are saying that our culture overuses the word ''amazing.'' The word may be overused in our culture, but it's definitely underused among Christians.
When God is in focus, there's only one word to describe Him - amazing! His grace is amazing, His power is amazing, His plan is amazing, His peace is amazing, His love is amazing. Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost but now I'm found was blind but now I see. - - - I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene, and wonder how He could love me, a sinner condemned unclean, How marvelous, How wonderful...
Elisha's life will help focus our attention on our amazing God. As we see his life of amazing faith, the only reason his faith was so amazing is because it was placed in an amazing God.
