Only God (3 of 9)
Series: Elish
Jim Perdue
2 Kings 4:8-37
Today, we continue a series on the life of Elisha. We have seen this faithful prophet of God who lived a life of amazing faith. And the reality is, if we would exercise the same faith, we could see God do amazing and incredible things in our lives as well.
Today, from 2 Kings 4:8-37 I want to talk to preach a sermon I've entitled, Only God. Have you ever experienced one of those moments where you know, if God hadn't intervened, it would have all been over. If God hadn't stepped in, you would have never made it. If God hadn't provided, you would've gone under. That's a situation I like to call, an ''only God'' situation.
We see a situation like this in 2 Kings 4:8-37. This is an ''only God'' situation. This is a moment, where if God doesn't intervene, there is no help, no hope, and no healing. But we see God intervene in a miraculous way through his prophet, Elisha. READ 2 Kings 4:11-17
Have you ever experienced one of those, ''only God'' moments in your life? I can remember driving along the interstate after it had rained a good bit; my entire family was in the car. And I had to swerve suddenly to avoid a tractor-trailer in the lane next to me. We were in a large SUV and it began swerving violently back and forth. I did my best to hold on but thought we were about to flip. When all of a sudden, the car settle down and we kept rolling down the road. I couldn't help but think to myself, ''only God.''
There out to be some ''only God'' moments we can look back on. Where He saved us from harm. Where He elevated us to blessing. A.W. Tozer said, ''God is looking for people through whom He can do the impossible. What a pity that we plan only the things we can do by ourselves.'' Charles Spurgeon said, ''Without the Spirit of God, we can do nothing. We are as ships without the wind, branches without sap, and like coals without fire, we are useless.''
