2 Kings 5:1-19
Today, we continue a series on the life of Elisha. It's a series entitled A Life of Amazing Faith. In 2 Kings we are introduced to Elisha. He has been called ''The Miracle Prophet.'' God did some amazing miracles through this prophet. His name means, ''God is salvation.'' He directs our attention to God. God saves, God delivers, God heals, God can work miracles and do amazing things!
What has your attention today? Either our eyes are fixed on a problem, or our eyes are fixed on God. Remember this, there is no problem too big or too bad that God's miraculous intervention cannot transform.
Today, we come to one of the most popular and well-known story related to the prophet Elisha. This is the story of Elisha and Naaman. And because I love to duck hunt, I decided to call this message, Seven Ducks in Muddy Water. Get it? Because God told Naaman to dip seven times in the Jordan River. READ 2 Kings 5:1-14
Concerning the story of Naaman an illustrious English professor said, it is ''The most effective short story in human literature.'' It is far more than just a story of the healing of a man with a skin disease. W.A. Criswell said that this account is ''One of the finest, most effective, pungent, illustrative, God's revelation of the truth of anything you will find in the whole Word of God.'' Naaman's story is one not only of physical healing but it is the story of salvation illustrating the spiritual healing that man finds and the transformation that takes place only in and through the Lord Jesus Christ.
The man we meet in 2 Kings 5 had a very big problem. And we will see that God did an amazing miracle in his life. But that miracle was connected to his obedience. What does God want to do in your life? Is He waiting on you to step out in faith and obedience?
The Prophet Elijah is named twenty-nine times in the New Testament while Elisha is named only once. READ Luke 4:27 ...
