We are learning about one of God's great prophets in the Bible. Elisha is known as ''the miracle prophet.'' The Bible records some twenty miracles that God did through the prophet Elisha. God still does miracles! Are you in need of a miracle today?

Elisha's name means ''God is salvation.'' His name calls us to look to God. This series is about looking to God, coming to God, living for God, and watching Him do amazing things in your life!

Do you remember last week? We studied the miraculous story of Naaman and his ultimate obedience to the Lord's instruction to dip in the Jordan River seven times. He obeyed and something amazing happened. READ 5:14

Naaman tried to give the prophet Elisha great wealth for what God did. Elisha rejected Naaman's gift because he wanted it to be absolutely clear that he was in no way responsible for his healing. Elisha did accept gifts at other times. But this time, Elisha wanted this new convert from paganism to know that the one true God did this, this was all God and the prophet deserved no credit. READ 5:16-19

I wished the story ended there. As you can tell, there's an important word, ''but'' in the middle of verse 19. Today, we see a story of contrast. We see The Consequences of Disobedience when Elisha's servant, Gehazi, chooses to take matters in his own hands and follows a wicked path. READ 2 Kings 5:20-27

We have five children ages 12 all the way down to 3. That means we've had a toddler for almost a decade now. And we are working hard to train our little toddler, Caroline. She has proven to be difficult at times. We work hard to teach what obedience means: it's doing what you're told the first time with a happy heart. But she seems to think she knows better at times. We work hard to teach her right from wrong, good from bad, and wisdom versus foolishness. But the reality is, Caroline's actions reflect most of our hearts. ...
