1) Today we begin our summer series called Pixelated
a) Definition: of an image on a computer or television screen: made up of a small number of large pixels that produce a picture which is not clear or sharp
b) Let's play a little game

2) Life is pixelated
a) We tend to assume everything we see and observe is accurate
i) Picture - Shadow Art 1

b) A pixel only has meaning in context
c) The challenge throughout history was for people to learn the right information
d) The challenge for us today is sifting through and finding the helpful information
3) More importantly, to a lot of people God looks pixelated
a) You're not sure what He's really like
i) Why doesn't He answer certain prayers?
ii) Why does He allow awful things to happen?
iii) What does He really think of me?
b) So you read your Bible
i) And it confuses you more!
ii) Let's be honest (I'm a pastor), but there's some crazy stuff in the Old Testament!
(1) A leader named Samson sleeps with prostitutes and casually kills people [picture]
(2) There's a talking donkey [picture]
(3) King David once collected 200 foreskins to get permission to marry his wife (no picture on this one)
4) Each week we're going to look at a passage from the Old Testament and then see how it ties into Jesus
a) If you read anything in the Bible without thinking how it ties to Jesus you are missing something
