Hebrews 4:14-16

Hebrews 4:14-16

14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 4 is about rest; God's rest. If there is anything we need these days it's rest. This is a hectic world. It's turning way too fast and threatening to throw some of us off. This is a troubling world. If it's not financial trouble then it's family or health related trouble. Just when we think we've got life figured out trouble raises its ugly head and turns our world upside down.

So what do we do? We turn to Jesus who has promised us peace and rest when we need it. If we hold on long enough someone is going to come to our rescue.

Look at how we can receive the peace and rest the Lord has promised us.

HOLD ON TO THE SAVIOR'S PROMISE

The Lord has promised us rest but He did not promise to take away all of our trouble. In fact He promised just the opposite.

John 16:33
33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.''
Sometimes the Lord delivers us or those we pray for but sometimes He doesn't. I don't know why and neither does anyone else. Only the Lord knows. What He will always do however, is give us the peace and rest of heaven despite the terrible circumstances that threaten to break our hearts.
