God's Plan to Save Our Nation

2 Chronicles 7:12-14
12 Then the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: ''I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice.
13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people,
14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
19 ''But if you turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods, and worship them,
20 then I will uproot them from My land which I have given them; and this house which I have sanctified for My name I will cast out of My sight, and will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.
Too many have attempted to associate this passage with the U.S. This is a false association for 2 reasons. #1: All of the Jews in Solomon's day were the people of God whereas today only the saved belong to God. #2: Since the vast majority of Americans today are lost they can never pray effectively for our country.
If this passage is to be applied to anyone today it must be applied to those in our country who know the Lord. According to this text it's not up to our politicians to turn this country around - they are a false hope because most of them possess neither the intellectual capability nor the power for such an awesome task. As believers we are the only ones who have access to the kind of grace and power that will bring lasting change to our nation.
If there is to be a great spiritual awakening in our nation - and that is the only thing that will save us - it must begin in the church. In this passage the Lord lays out a 3 part formula by which the church can be our nation's catalyst for change.
THIS NATION CAN ONLY BE SAVED THROUGH HUMILITY
