The Sin Issue (5 of 7)
Series: 1 John
Dr. Jerry Branch
1 John 1:6-10
1 John 1:6-10 (ESV)
6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Therefore, in order to have complete joy as God wants, which he says in verse 4, we need to strive to be holy in our living...in our conduct.
Now this week John is going to flesh out what he is talking about...and he starts again by dealing with this issue of FELLOWSHIP with God... Note he says, ''IF we say we have fellowship with Him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.''

Fellowship...think about Fellowship as being what we can call the position in which two persons, or in this case, God and you, or God and me...the position in which we are walking together in this journey...on this road we call life.
So, Fellowship can be seen as Walking TOGETHER...not on separate paths, but next to one another.
This is born out if we look at people who have been described as having fellowship with God.
One of the examples that comes to mind is that of Enoch. Enoch is a g ...
