Big Idea: Injustice is inevitable; responding like Jesus is up to you.
1) Opening Thoughts
a) Welcome to everyone
i) On whichever campus you're experiencing this service
ii) It's good to be with you!
b) Actually, it's really good to be back...
i) I've been in Israel for the last several weeks
(1) Been there with a group of 20 some men leaders from our church.
(2) We also have a group of 20 some ladies who are also leaders on a trip over there.
ii) I want to invite you to pray about the possibility of joining us on an upcoming trip where you can learn a great deal about the history of the land, visit the sites we read about in the Bible, and also learn about the current geo/political realities of the land and of the people.
(1) DOING SO WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
iii) Many of us have committed ourselves to learning what it means to be ''peacemakers'' in a very conflicted world.
iv) Probably no place more conflicted than Israel/Palestine
(1) There is the major conflict between the Palestinians and the Israeli's.
(2) There is the major conflict between people in each of these groups.
(a) Regarding Israel
(i) They have 33 political parties that vie for 120 seats in the Knesset
(ii) It is extremely fractured!!!
(b) Regarding all the problems within the Palestinian Authority
v) About the election here this week
(1) In Israel when I heard the news.
(2) Many people are thrilled with the outcome, many are devastated.
(a) Many others are extremely fearful of the outcome.
(b) Don't know which best describes you.
(3) What is obvious to all
(a) We are a deeply fractured society
(b) We are a troubled people.
(c) We are on the brink of experiences the vilest hatred most of us have ever encountered.
(4) What is needed...
(a) Respect for others
(i) For those who disagree with you
