John 14:12-23

Thanksgiving is officially behind us and our increased waistline is before us! We hope you had a wonderful time with family and friends and thought a lot about what you are thankful for. Somebody said, ''I have nothing to be thankful for. I don't like the way my life is going.'' To that I say, ''Thank God you have a life - it may not be what you want it to be right now, but you're still here, you're not dead, so God is giving you another chance. There are no second chances in the grave.

It is time to CELEBRATE life. Gerri and I desire that you would truly celebrate Christmas this year. The best way to celebrate Christmas is to honor Jesus. Gifts are great but He is the Greatest Gift we could ever receive. John 3:16 ''For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life!''

What if a little boy woke up on Christmas morning and ran downstairs and saw all these beautifully wrapped gifts under the tree, and his father in sheer joy hands him a present and he chooses not to open it? The Father gave us a Gift, Jesus is the Gift from the Father to you and me, but the way that we open the gift is by BELIEVING - it is by FAITH! So, when we put our faith in Jesus, the gift is opened. And that is how it works with all the gifts from God - they must be received by faith!

If the boy didn't believe that the gift was from his father, or that he was supposed to be the recipient of it, he wouldn't open it. Or if he stubbornly said, ''no thanks dad, I don't want your gift, I'll buy my own Christmas gift,'' he wouldn't receive it either.
