1) Opening Thoughts

a) Welcome to all

b) Today we are beginning our Christmas Series

c) Before we do... Let me share with you a few important things about this church

i) First, if there we one verse we are trying to consistently trying to apply to our lives it would be...
(1) Luke 9:23 ''Then he said to them all: 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.'''
(a) This was Jesus' own requirement for being a follower of his.
(b) This is what make Christianity so challenging, yet so worthy!
(2) Our motto: ''There is more to life than me.''
(3) We are seeking to learn how to live for OTHERS, not for OURSELVES
(4) This is OUR THING... this is WHAT WE DO.

ii) Now, with that understanding, there are two opportunities to make a difference for others coming up... specifically children, please allow me to tell you about them.

(1) The first is Adopt a Family
(a) Would you consider providing Christmas for a family that needs help?
(b) You can do this as an individual, a family, or a life group.
(c) Our desire is to serve 1100 families this year.

(2) The second concerns our Christmas offering

(a) Two special offerings each year
(i) One dedicated to blessing outside the church, one for blessing inside the church.
(ii) Easter
1. This is the one we ''give all of it away''
2. This year we gave over $375,000 to help first responders take care of children in need.
3. This went to police and firefighters in...

b. Gilbert
c. Ahwatukee
d. Glendale
e. Queen Creek

(b) The other one is at Christmas

(i) This is the one we use to bless people within our church family

(ii) This year we want to bless our children and students by creating more compelling environments for them to learn about Jesus.
