I will never forget growing up in Chatsworth, Georgia on the corner of North 4th and Oak Street. I was around five years old at this time and we lived there for several years. One of the greatest memories that I have of living in my old home place has to do with trees. The house on the south side of our home was like only 50 feet or so from our house and in between our houses was an apple tree. We were always playing in this apple tree.

I will never forget the day that my mom told us they were going to cut our apple tree down. It was a very old tree and for some reason all of the adults deemed it a necessity to cut our tree down. There was a lot of crying took place between my brothers and I, we spent lots of time in the old apple tree.

There was also another tree that was located on the west side of our house. It was a very small tree, it was a Mimosa Tree and we always climbed up this tree. The tree was very skinny and only had a few limbs on it due to we were always climbing it and breaking the limbs. The thing about a Mimosa tree is that they are literally indestructible unless you completely dig the roots up.

The best memory of this tree was one day, my middle brother, Tony; decided to climb the tree and make my mom think that he had hanged himself. He climbed the tree and had a rope wrapped around his neck but it was not really in a noose around his neck, he held one end of the rope in each hand s ...
