2) How Close Really?
a) Situations aren't always what they appear to be
i) When I was the dean of UCYC
ii) The Peeping Tom incident
b) Looking through a mirror:
i) Mirror on a car... Objects are closer than they appear
ii) Mirror on God... Objects are further away than they appear
iii) When it comes to spirituality, things are often NOT what they look like
c) 2 Chronicles 16:9 ''For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.''
i) This is something only God really knows
ii) We can work really hard at convincing people we are more ''together'' with God than we are.
iii) We can fool people, we can never fool God.
d) Last week - God is looking for committed followers, not adoring fans
i) The struggle we all have with this is determining which we really are.
ii) Many fans believe they are committed followers.
iii) God knows about us, other people can guess about us, we should KNOW about who, what, where we really are!
