1) Opening Comments

a) What a powerful story.

i) Thank you Christin for sharing your story

ii) We've all got a story to tell

b) Today we want to talk about ''Reflections''

i) A reflection is what you see when you take a look at yourself. Your life.

ii) It is what you see when you look at both your past and your present condition.

iii) As we reflect on our lives, we try to make sense of it
(1) Why did this happen?
(2) Why did that happen?

iv) So many times, the closer we look the more confused we become

c) What's so compelling about the video we just watched...

i) Christin didn't want her FUTURE to simply be more of her PAST

ii) Can you relate to this?

iii) Most of us really don't want that to be our future.

iv) Where there is no faith in the future, there is no power in the present

d) There's a story in the Bible that I want to turn our attention to... I think it will give us insight

i) It's found in John 11

2) Where's God When...?

a) John 11

i) This is the story of a few friends

ii) There are four main characters
(1) Jesus
(2) A woman named Mary
(3) Her sister named Martha
(4) Their brother named Lazarus who was a really good friend of Jesus

iii) Martha, Mary and Lazarus lived in Bethany, a suburb of Jerusalem

iv) They had done quite a bit of life together and knew each other well

v) Then something happened...
(1) It's how life happens
(2) Everything is going just great... then it's not!

vi) This is a sort of when life crashes in on you.
