adjective
adjective: resolute
- admirably purposeful, determined, and unwavering.
- Bold, courageous, persistent, steadfast, unshakable, tenacious, unflinching
OR
- afraid, complacent, cowardly, fearful, surrendering, timid, unreliable
Resolutions:
1. I need to start eating more healthy, but I have to finish all the junk food first so I don't get tempted.
2. I will no longer sit in front of the computer screen all day. I will only stay one hour a day. Nevertheless, this will be difficult to do because I am not a clock watcher.
3. I will play more computer games. Studies have shown that they improve visual skills, reflexes and dexterity.
4. I will not take a selfie just to be able to get a shot of the pretty girl/guy behind me!
How do we face a new reality? We put a lot on this moment as a new years dawns, but the only thing that changes is the year going up by one. But something fascinating happens in us for sure with the start of a new year. It builds within us a hope, usually, for a year that is better than the previous. While many don't make resolutions, the idea of being resolute is actually a good standard to lift up!
We all think about how we are going to do things differently than last year, don't we? And that's good.
So, for this morning, I want to be an encouragement to you in this first day of the new year. Perhaps you set out to be part of Calvary West more in the new year. I want to congratulate you this morning. You have perfect attendance at church for an entire year! Give your neighbor a high five! Hug someone. Celebrate! You have kept your resolution!
