Big Idea: Faith grows when our hope is tested

c) Hope in Hard Times

i) It seems rather relevant, doesn't it?

ii) A need for Hope
(1) Not a campaign slogan
(2) The Real Thing

iii) These days there is an incredible sense of hopelessness and despair that is being experienced by so many
(1) These are challenging times
(2) These are fearful times
(3) These are times some people are sensing despair
(4) If [put the name of whichever candidate you don't want for President in here] gets elected, it will spell disaster for all of us...
(5) You can feel the tension in the air over this.

iv) What we desperately need these days is a sense of hope
(1) Tell me it's going to be ok
(2) Assure me that this isn't the end of it all

v) Hope is an incredibly powerful asset
(1) With it
(a) You can face difficulty
(b) You can overcome obstacles
(c) You can tackle challenges
(2) Without it
(a) You are emotionally drained of life
(b) You are overwhelmed by every challenge
(c) You are deflated and defeated... easily set back

vi) If you ever were faced with a choice of having hope or not having hope... we all know that hope is extremely desirable!!!

(2) We always control it...
(a) Hope is an attitude
(b) Hope is a choice we make
