i) So often, we think that if God loved us, and he truly cared for us, life would be easy.
ii) We imagine it as a day at the beach or a picnic at the park.
iii) The truth is... if we look to the life of Christ, it would better be described as an intense warfare.
iv) This is unsettling, as war is unsettling, but it is honest.

a) This has become a bit of a passion and pastime for Lisa and me.

(1) High water mark of the confederacy

c) Trying to replay the battle
i) To envision it
ii) To imagine it
iii) How I would love to attend a ''reenactment'' at one of these
(1) Incidentally, we did kind of se one at Springfield ILL at the burial site of Lincoln
(2) We were surprised by how old the reenactors were...
(3) In the actual war, these were extremely young men
(4) Young men today don't tend to be interested in reenacting history!

i) Pickett's charge in Gettysburg
ii) The Hornet's Nest at Shiloh
iii) The stone wall at Fredericksburg
iv) The notorious ''sunken road'' at Antietam
