i) We are going to spend the next several weeks building up to Easter
ii) Our theme is ''OPEN''
iii) I encourage you to invite someone!
c) Easter Offering
i) Casting Vision
(1) Show picture of land
(2) Show picture of possible building
ii) 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 ''Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.''
(1) Don't feel guilty... just do what you can do
(2) What can you do?
(a) Some of you can...
(b) 100k, 50k, 25k, 10k
(c) You might choose not to... but you can
(3) Just do whatever you can
2) Camp Meetings and Revivals!
a) It used to be customary for churches to hold revivals
i) Once a year, usually during the summer
ii) Sometimes in a tent
iii) A guest evangelist/preacher
iv) A guest music leader
v) A revival choir would be formed
vi) Posters printed
vii) People invited everyone
b) The centerpiece of this was the teaching of the WORD OF GOD
c) People would be charged up and reignited
i) People would come to faith
ii) People would repent and rededicate their lives.
iii) Whole cities would be transformed!
d) One person said it this way...
i) ''Revival awakens in our hearts an increased awareness of the presence of God, a new love for God, a new hatred for sin and a hunger for His Word'' Del Fehsefeld Jr.
e) This is something truly lacking in our day
f) Billy Sunday was once asked if a revival lasted.
i) ''No, neither does a bath; but it's good to have one occasionally.''
ii) We can always use good revival!
