Big Idea: The more you walk in the light, the brighter the world you walk in.
1) Welcome
a) All Campuses
b) Acknowledging the Summit
i) Especially those who served.
ii) Let's give a shout out of thanks to each of them!
2) Painting a Picture
a) So we're in a series called GOD IS
i) It's study of 1 John.
ii) We began last week.
iii) You might want to open you're Bible to it and get ready.
b) But first, I want to begin by painting a picture
i) It's a mental one, you you'll have to imagine it
ii) The picture I'm going to paint is the picture of a culture.
iii) Understand, cultures are hard to paint!
iv) Even though I'm not much of an artist, my guess is, you'll see it pretty clearly.
v) Truth is... it's not a pretty picture. But take a look at it anyway.
c) Imagine, in your mind's eye...
i) A culture in which citizens don't trust their government. In fact, in this culture most people think their government is just plain corrupt. Only a fool would put any faith and confidence in those people.
ii) In this culture the people have become very proud of their racism, believing that one race of people is far superior to any other. The superior one? Theirs, of course.
iii) And in this culture, the people have become very promiscuous sexually. Both heterosexually and homosexually sexual. It is a time when ''anything goes'' best sums it up.
iv) In this culture I'm painting, people don't value the sanctity of human life... instead, they have decided that parents should have the right to determine whether or not a child of theirs should live or die. It's their call to make.
v) Because children are not valued, parents unashamedly abandon and orphan their children. Someone else can take care of them if they care to.
vi) The culture I'm painting a picture of is one that traffics in humans. It's made up of people who believe other people a ...
