Big Idea: Nothing will change you more than experiencing the love of your Father
1) Opening Comments
a) Welcome!
b) When was the last time you were simply astonished by something?
i) Something that simply took your breath away?
ii) Something that blew your mind when you grasped it?
iii) Something that was so incredible it just left you speechless?
c) Perhaps it was something you saw
i) Great Wall of China
ii) Mt. Rushmore
iii) Grand Canyon
d) More likely, it was something you experienced
i) The way someone treated you
ii) A gift someone gave you
iii) A kindness you were shown
e) For John, the most astonishing thing ''out there'' was the love of God.
i) Specifically, his understanding that God loved him...
(1) In spite of it all.
(2) Anyway.
ii) And God loves you, and God loves me.
(1) In spite of it all... anyway.
(2) It would make far more sense and be far easier to understand if he didn't...
(3) but he does.
iii) And there is nothing you have done to earn it, deserve it, or explain it.
(1) You just have to accept it... receive his love.
(2) And if you do...
(a) You can't do anything that would cause him to love you more.
(b) You can't do anything that would cause him to love you less.
iv) It's just the way it is.
(1) It's just ASTONISHING!
