(c) In our generation movie theatre lobbies are plain, yet necessary transition places to get you into a seat. The lobby is a place to drop off your ticket, buy snacks and go to the bathroom.
(d) How many screens is what causes theatres to be special.
(i) There are theatres with 25-30 different screens.
1. These are called ''multiplexes''
2. Mega-multiplex are theatres who do BIG!
(ii) One mega-multiplex theatre in Madrid seats 9200 people between their 25 separate theatres.

(2) Here's the point: WHILE THEY ARE LARGE... MODERN THEATRES DO NOTHING TO PREPARE YOU TO HAVE YOUR IMAGINATION STIRRED ONCE INSIDE!!!

(3) Now allow me to take you back in time...
(a) Let's go to ''The Golden Age'' of movies.
(b) Theatres back in the day had only ONE screen.
(c) Even in the Depression era, the lobbies of theatres were places of awe inspiring beauty.

ii) Back in the day, the typical lobby was a feast for the eyes because it was designed to offer a transition from the grind of daily life.
(1) Theater architects wanted moviegoers to feel a sense of anticipation for what was coming next.
(2) Vaulted ceilings, museum-worthy art, lush tapestries, beautiful fixtures, and uniformed ushers gave customers a sneak-peak at what they could expect once they entered the theater itself.
