Big Idea: In every story worth telling, there's a story before the story worth knowing.
1) Opening Comments
a) Welcome and Greetings
b) Last week we began a new series
i) Thy Kingdom Come!
ii) Life Groups got off to a great start this week
(1) If you're not in one... get there.
(2) It's a chance to process with others what we're talking about!

i) Your Bible: 1 Samuel 8
ii) Your Journal

(3) Big Idea: In every story worth telling, there's a story before the story worth knowing.
2) Back To the Movies!
a) I want to ask you to think for a moment about how it is that they make movies.
i) If any movie is worth seeing, it has a plot.
ii) The movie is made in such a way that as you view it, it develops the plot.
iii) At the end of the movie, the plot is resolved (usually).
b) There is a kind of cinematography that shows you the conclusion of the plot, then goes backwards in time and breaks down to explain to you how you got there.
i) This style is called ''Reverse Chronology''
ii) Some examples:
(1) Citizen Kane begins with a newsreel about the protagonist's death
(2) Fight Club begins with the narrator ready to take his life
iii) The important question is HOW DID WE GET HERE?
c) Other movies are made in the plot development mode (normal way), but they're so good you just have to know more
i) Sometimes they follow the movie with a SEQUEL, or two
ii) If it's a really good story, they can come out with a PREQUEL
d) Examples of prequels...
i) The Lord of the Rings trilogy was followed by ''The Hobbit''
ii) The movie Wicked explains how the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz became wicked.
iii) Star Wars (This concept on steroids)
(1) You first have a movie... and then two sequels (technically this is a trilogy)

(b) The Empire Strikes Back (seq ...
