i) A number of years ago a very interesting book was published.
(1) It was called ''The Day America Told the Truth'', by James Patterson and Peter Kim.
(2) They asked the question, ''What are you willing to do for $10,000,000?''
(3) Their answers were revealing
(a) 25% would abandon their entire family.
(b) 25% would abandon their church.
(c) 23% would become prostitutes for a week.
(d) 16% would give up their American citizenship.
(e) 16% would leave their spouses.
(f) 10% would withhold testimony and let a murderer go free.
(g) 7% would kill a stranger.
(h) 3% would put their children up for adoption.

ii) What immoral thing would you be willing to do if enough money was offered?

iii) The classic illustration of situational ethics was this...
(1) A very wealthy banker was attracted to his beautiful assistant.
(2) He badly lusted for her and wanted desperately to sleep with her.
(3) He knew her to be a woman of some morals, so he knew that without some incentive she would never consent... so he decided to make her an offer he felt she wouldn't/couldn't refuse...
(4) ''Would you be willing to sleep with me one time if I paid you $1,000,000?''
(5) She thought about it... ''One time? Cash? You'd keep it quiet?''
(6) She consented...
(7) He then asked her... ''Just out of curiosity, would you be willing to do this for $100,000? - yes; for $100?''
(8) At this she responded... ''What kind of a woman do you think I am?''
(9) His response: ''We've already determined what kind of a woman you are... the question we are deliberating is simply what your price is.''
