Big Idea: Until I come to the end of me, there will be no true life in him.

1) Easter Week

a) What an incredible week we had last week
i) Over 17,500 people worshipping together
ii) 19 services, 5 cities
iii) Overflow crowds
iv) Many decisions for Christ
v) A number of people commented they couldn't believe the electric charge that was in these services

b) Question: What moves you most about the Easter story?

c) 1 Peter 2:24 ''He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.''

d) Two things about this move me the most:

i) The significance of the sacrificial death of Christ
(1) That he died for us
(2) That he died so we could live
(3) That by the pain inflicted upon him, I was spared pain
(a) That touches me deeply
(b) That rips me inside

ii) The undeserved nature of this

(1) Romans 5:8 ''But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.''

(2) If we fail to grasp the undeserved nature of this, we will never fully appreciate what he did.

(3) If we don't see ourselves as despicable and disgusting we really don't understand what the big deal was

(4) The religious word for this is ''wretched''
(a) This is how the Bible describes our state when we are full of ourselves and void of God
(b) Self -centered, self-absorbed, ego driven, pride filled narcissists
(c) How often do you hear anyone refer to themselves as ''wretched'' these days?

(5) How easy it is to think very highly of ourselves
(a) I'm not that bad
(b) I'm not that big of a sinner
(c) I've got a few issues...
(i) BUT I'M NOT WRETCHED!
(d) We live in world where:
(i) Everyone gets a trophy or a ribbon
(ii) Everyone gets a passing grade
(iii) Everyone is told constantly how great they really are...
