The Global Prayer Digest is a devotional book that provides inspiration, insight, and information to the body of Christ. It's like in certain ways that Devotional Book, The Daily Bread. But it's broader and more present day centered as it relates to topics, themes, and theology.

In the September 1991 publication, there is a story about a Missionary in Africa that is an ''eye opening'' story. This medical missionary was serving in the deep regions of Africa, he served those who lived in the primitive way of life in the mother country, in the remote part often called ''the bush. '' His faith and his medical gifting called him to labor in love with those in the deep jungle. He witnessed to them about Christ, but he cared for them as a physician. He was home in Michigan raising money for his work and speaking at various churches about his work, the people, the needs, when he told about this event that took place in his life.

He told that on one occasion he had to travel into the city to buy supplies, medicine, some food that he liked, gifts for children and workers, and those items that were needed to do his work with the natives. It was a two-day trip, so he would often stop at night at what believed to be a half way point.

On his return, back to his village, two men who had been fighting on the road, and one was badly hurt and wounded. He being a doctor, treated him, took care of the wounds, and even stayed longer in that area to ensure that the man would be well. He arrived back safely and continued his work.

A few months later, he had to make that same trip again, and it just so happened that the man that he helped saw him in the city, knew that he had supplies, medicine, food, and he decided to rob him. He enlisted the assistance of two other friends, and agreed that they would split the supplies, medicine, if they would help him. They followed him at a distance and waited until night when he would camp ...
