No More Separation (4 of 5)
Series: Ready

Mark 15:37
Like most people, when I was growing up, to me God was so distant and so impersonal that I only called upon Him in times of utter desperation. And if He answered my prayer and I passed my Social Studies test, I was grateful. But I never felt like I could get close to Him. He was distant and judgmental, the kind of God to be afraid of.
Did you ever feel distant from God? Did you ever pray and feel like God doesn't hear you? Did you ever feel like you lost sight of God? Did you ever feel like your circumstances are so big that they seem even bigger than God? Did you ever feel like you blew it so bad that God could never forgive you? Did you ever feel unqualified or disqualified to be used of God?
Well, you are in good company.
1. Moses killed an Egyptian yet God used him to save a million Israelites.
2. Abraham slept with a handmaiden, yet God blessed him as the father of many nations.
3. Jacob stole his brother's blessing, yet God brought the blessed Nation of Israel out of his loins.
4. David committed adultery with Bathsheba and then had her husband killed, yet God called him a man after His own heart.
5. Paul killed Christians, yet God saved Him and allowed him to write a third of the New Testament.
6. Peter denied that he knew Him, yet Jesus ordained him specifically and personally for the work of the Lord.
Despite their weaknesses, despite their mistakes, God did not give up on them, but rather kept calling, purifying, preparing, and perfecting them. The honest-truth about the patriarchs is that they didn't ''have it all together'' from the start. These men often struggled to hear and heed the voice of God. And God needed to prepare them for the tasks that He had for them. And we are no different. Perhaps, then, there is hope for us!
WELCOME TO THE LAND OF MISFITS! There are none perfect among us or who went before us or who will ever come after us. We are a ban ...
