Deuteronomy 28:1
When you talk about BLESSING, many people think that God should be in the business of making people rich. They think they are blessed if they have a new car or a nice home or a good-looking date. They think they are blessed if all their bills are paid and they have a good position in a good company. They think they are blessed even when they compare themselves to others and think they have it better than the next guy. They gauge their blessing on how good they feel or how they are doing in their physical life. They believe they are blessed if everything around them is good, or if they have this and have attained that in life, the focus being on the outer, the tangible stuff.
But God's plan was to first bless us on the inside before He could bless us on the outside. God had promised His children that they would be a BLESSED PEOPLE. But there was an IF in the sentence. There was a contingency or a condition that first must have been met - He promised that if they obeyed His voice, a whole list of good blessings would follow. He promised He would bless them IF they heeded His commandments and did them and did not go to the right or to the left but stayed on the straight and narrow.
God knew that if His people desired to be blessed, they would first need to learn something and that was to listen and obey His voice.
Here is what God promised His people:
Deuteronomy 28:1 ''Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God: 3 Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country. 4 Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your ...
