If you have your Bible, please turn to the Book of Proverbs, Proverbs chapter 14. We're starting a new series today entitled, It's Not Easy Being Me.
It was in 1964 when some creative folks got together and produced a Christmas stop-motion, animated television special that was entitled, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer. It came out in 1964, and it has aired every single year since 1964. It became an instant hit, an instant classic. I doubt there are very many people in this room, watching on television, listening on radio, who haven't seen that Christmas television special, or had seen scenes, or heard some songs. One of the themes in Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer was the theme of not fitting in, the theme of being a misfit. That was true for Rudolph, because he was the only one that had that nose that would turn red and glow. But it was also true for a little elf named Hermie. Watch the screens.

And soon it is right before Christmas. And everybody is getting ready for that big, big sleigh ride on the night of the 24th, Christmas Eve. You see all the toys Santa brings are made by these elves. These elves have that certain knack for toy-making, all except for this one misfit. ''Hermie, aren't you finished painting that yet? There's a pile up a mile wide behind you. What's eating you, boy?'' ''Not happy in my work, I guess.'' ''What!'' ''I just don't like to make toys.'' ''Oh well, if that's all! What? You don't like to make toys?'' ''No.'' ''Hermie doesn't like to make toys.'' ''Hermie doesn't like to make toys.'' Hermie doesn't like to make toys.'' ''Hermie doesn't like to make toys.'' ''Oh, shame on you.''
