Why Do You Look for the Living among the Dead?

We need to hear this when we enclose ourselves with selfishness, narcissism or self-complacency. When we are seduced by earthly powers and the things of this world. Why do we seek things that cannot give life? That are only temporal?
It is not easy to accept the life of Christ crucified and risen. We must accept his actual presence among us today.
The tension in this Easter story between those who believe and those who do not.
Belief in resurrection = saying yes to life / no to death ... that there is a sustaining power (God) who brings life out of death and reconciliation out of conflict
Resurrection promise: That God is making all things new
After years of study and prayer I must confess, I don't know much about life after death. We can take all the facts of the gospel from Luke and couple the story with all the eyewitness accounts of the empty tomb and the resurrected Jesus, but we are still left with the simple fact that resurrection violates everything we know about medicine and biology and probably much of physics too. I cannot explain it so if you are looking for answers about this, I cannot help you.
But if you believe that death is the end, the lights go out, there is nothing more and death is the final state of living, one question becomes central, ''Where do you look for life?''
Do you look for life in the prestige of a good education, a good spouse, great children and financial success? Those things will all pass away.
Do you look for life among the things that money can buy? Cars, boats, planes, nice houses and lots of toys? Those too will rust and decay.
How about the power of being in control of your life, of going to the gym every day and taking care of your body? Will this give you life? Your body too, will fail you someday.
If you have achieved a measure of success so far, do you look for life by perpetuating your accomplishments? Do you loo ...
