Hebrews 13:1-15
One of the lessons children have to learn in school is the recognition of patterns. They are given a series of pictures, symbols or numbers and asked to identify the pattern with in the series and are often times required to finish out the sequence of patterns.
It is an important lesson for problem solving and understanding of life in general. Life is filled with patterns. You have seasons for your weather, planting and harvesting. Even the animals have patterns for migrating, hibernating and mating. Patterns are all around us.
Recognition of patterns also helps you recognize cause and effect. As we grow we begin to understand that one action causes/creates another action or reaction.
As you look at the Bible you discover patterns as well. This is especially true in the NT. Every letter seems to have a similar flow or pattern. The NT letters begin by teaching, laying a doctrinal foundation, and then move into a time of application. They tell us what to believe and then how those beliefs should affect the way we live our life.
We all know that if what we believe does not impact our life then we really and truly do not believe. Belief dictates and determines our actions. If Jesus, as the writer of Hebrews has so intentionally and emphatically drawn out, is bigger, better, greater and worthy of our hearts, minds, lives and devotion then it will affect how we live our lives on a day to day basis.

Now in chapter 13 the author of Hebrews is going to highlight some areas where the difference Jesus makes should be evident.
