3) Newton's first law of motion

i) Energy cannot be created or destroyed
ii) It can only be converted
iii) Energy just moves back and forth
b) Potential energy: stored energy due to position
i) This is what you have at the top of a roller coaster
ii) Picture - roller coaster potential
c) Kinetic energy: energy due to motion
i) This is what you have as you fly downward on a roller coaster
ii) Picture - roller coaster kinetic

4) Big idea: Your position with God determines your potential.
a) I want to look at encounter in the life of Moses
i) This would lead to the pivotal story of the Old Testament called the Exodus
(1) The people of God were a community full of potential energy
(2) God was about to transfer it to kinetic energy
ii) When God moved hundreds of thousands of Israelites out of slavery in Egypt
(1) In the book of Numbers the number of fighting men is 600k
(2) That means the total number of people could have been a few million
iii) It has been called the ''gospel story of the Old Testament''
b) We'll take a look at positioning ourselves spiritually and how that affects the energy we experience
