Jeremiah 1:7-10
1) Happy Thanksgiving!
a) I hope you had a great week
b) Story: Adelyn's craft
2) We are concluding our series today called Potential
a) This is a setup to our Christmas series
b) ''An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.''
c) Open your Bibles to the book of Jeremiah
d) It's a few books after Psalms and Proverbs
3) Last week we talked about the story of Moses
a) It's one of those stories we all wish we could be a part of
i) We saw how Moses was asked to liberate millions of people out of slavery in Egypt
ii) Your position with God determines your potential.
b) And if you were here for our Thanksgiving Eve services we saw Moses hand the baton to Joshua
i) He led the nation of Israel across the Jordan into the Promised Land
ii) Our motion can unleash the potential of many.
4) Today I want to apply the same criteria we saw last week to a very different story
a) We are going to look at the life of Jeremiah the prophet
b) Jeremiah is known as the ''weeping prophet''
c) Jeremiah was asked to explain the impending disaster for Israel at the hands of the Babylonians
i) Not only will the great city of Jerusalem be destroyed
ii) They will be taken to captivity
iii) This is much worse than my recovery mission with Adelyn's craft
iv) This would be like if God sent me to Boston and I had to be a slave to Red Sox fans!

ii) Big idea: Potential is lived out through faithfulness, not results.
