Big Idea: God is always moving, but often in silence.


1) Introduction

a) Welcome to all

b) What a great week this was...

i) It was two years ago, right about this time, that they began to earnestly pray that God would bring a foster child into their home, into their lives.

ii) A little less than two years ago, God brought a little boy who had been born prematurely, and with a handful of health issues into their lives named Aiden.

iii) This week, Jeremy and Michelle successfully adopted Aiden Berra into their family.

iv) We are all adopted into God's family when we come to faith in Jesus

c) Today we begin our Christmas Series

i) MOMENTUM

ii) This might not seem like a Christmas theme...

iii) It will when we're done!

i) How many of you LOVE this time of year?

ii) How many of you DON'T?

e) One thing we can all agree on: Christmas stirs the emotions!

i) Christmas heightens and intensifies emotions.

(1) Everybody has an opinion about Christmas

(2) Christmas is wrapped up in sentiment

(3) You could say that this is a time of both great joy, and great sadness

ii) Christmas, more than any other season, is about memories

(1) You have ''flashbacks'' with your senses
(a) When you hear Christmas Carols
(b) When you see lights and ornaments
(c) You smell it when you bring your Christmas tree into the house
(d) You touch it you wrap packages or put up your tree
(e) You taste it when you... eat chocolate, candy canes or egg nog
(i) Or for us in our family when we go to Sonic Drive In

(2) We all have memories... most of which have to do with family

(a) Christmas is about family
(i) More than any other holiday
(ii) Again: Good news/bad news
