Laying the Ground (2 of 11)
Series: Apologetics
Robert Dawson
Romans 1:16
I hate wearing glasses. They are annoying and a nuisance but I need them because they affect how I see things. Though you may not realize it we all wear them. We may not wear them in a physical sense but in a spiritual and mental sense. It is through these glasses that we view life, the question is how well do we see. What pair of glasses are we looking through?
How we look at life, interpret life and live life is called our worldview. It is the glasses/eyes that we view all life. (Lord willing later this year or first of next we will do a series looking at some of life's/society's issues from a biblical worldview and see a proper Christian response to the issues of our day - alcohol - abortion - homosexuality - genetic engineering -down to practical things like finances - families - manhood and womanhood)
But before we can construct a full-scale worldview we need to first answer life's greatest questions. Where did I come from? Why am I here? What is my reason for being? What is my purpose? Does life have any meaning? What is wrong with this world? With me? Will it ever be made right? Where am I going? What will happen to me when I die?
My contention is that Christianity is the only faith system that can fully answer all the great questions. Some of you may say, what about atheism it is not a belief system. The truth is, that atheism while denying the existence of God is still a faith system. On the side of theism and anti-theism we will still be led to a place where faith comes into play. Science and reason can only take us so far on either side of the debate and at that point a decision must be made. Is there a God? If there is then ....What is this God like? Can I know Him?
If there is no God then who will take His place. Man is wired to worship. We will worship God outside himself or become a God unto himself. Bible does not speak against atheism but idolatry...Man w ...
