This series for some of you has fallen on deaf ears, not because it is a little more academic or intellectually challenging but because many do not perceive it to be immediately practical so to me it is not something I am going to invest a lot of time to understand.
For some of us, answering objections and questions concerning the Christian faith really does not matter and does not appeal to us. We believe. We trust. We know it is true because we feel it deep in our souls and accept it wholly on faith. To that I would say, awesome. I am the same way. I don't know there has ever been a time in my life when I ever questioned the validity and truthfulness of my faith.
In recent years God has shown me the importance of understanding some of these arguments. He has shown me the importance of understanding that not everyone out there accepted the truths of God and the Bible as readily or easily. There are people out there with deep longing questions concerning faith, God, the Bible and Christ.
They want their heart and mind to be married on this subject and not divorced. I have found there are people in this room who believe but still have questions and lingering doubts...I do not want that. I want you to feel confident and assured in the Christian faith.
I think some dismiss a series like this because we have the mindset that what we do in here is for personal use and edification only. That is far, far from what the Bible teaches. What happens in here and small groups is for the purpose of equipping you to do the work of the ministry and accomplish more together than a few people can alone.
We look at these questions and answers of our faith not so we can win arguments or fill smug satisfaction in our beliefs but so we might win people to Christ.
The Bible commands us, 'Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that ...
