1) Welcome to Central
a) There's a sad trend happening in my life recently...
i) Virgil's Dr. Better at Fry's (Picture - Dr. Better)
ii) Pretzel burger at Wendy's (Picture - Pretzel Burger)
iii) Dr. Pepper Vanilla Freeze at Taco Bell (Dr. Pepper Freeze)
iv) Dry rub ribs at Chili's (Picture - Ribs)
(1) Some of you may want to inform me that they replaced this with a Dr. Pepper sauce on their ribs
(2) Let's just say they didn't nail it with that one
b) I was lamenting these examples to my wife recently
i) She told me I should stop falling in love with limited-time items
ii) Last week she ordered me something new and told me not to get attached!
iii) There's nothing worse than hoping for something and then finding out it's not available to you
c) Today, I want to apply this concept to our relationships
d) Are we open to those around us?
2) Journals week 1
a) Title: Open to People
b) Big idea: You naturally discuss what you care about with the people you care about.
c) Open to Colossians 4
3) This means we must ask two questions to think through this
a) #1 - What are the things you care about?
i) It's easy for me to talk about
(1) My family
(2) Reading
(3) Yankees
(4) [Story: meeting Tim] ''bromance at first sight''
ii) You likely have your own list of things
iii) How often does God show up in our conversations?
(1) Most people find it really hard to bring God up
(2) Yet the more passionate you are about something, the easier it is for you to talk about it.
b) #2 - Who are the people you care about?
i) Who are the people at work you naturally gravitate toward?
ii) Who are the family members you naturally get along with?
iii) Who are the neighbors you naturally connect with?
iv) How can you extend this to more people?
c) You naturally discuss what you care about with the people you care about.
