Training to Trust (3 of 11)
Series: Standing for the Truth

I Kings 17:2-7

Much of our life is spend being taught how to do things:
In school we are taught how to read, write and to do math.
After we finish school we have to learn what a specific company wants us to do. Throughout all of our life we are continually learning new things such as how to work a computer or smart phone or learn a hobby or new skill.

We also need to be trained to trust God to take care of us.
Trusting God does not come naturally because we want to take of our own needs without relying on him. So God has to teach us
that he can and will provide for all of our needs.

1. It takes faith that God will provide for my needs.
2. It takes humility to depend upon God instead of our self.
3. It takes patience because we have to wait for his provision.
4. It takes time to learn to trust God - it does not happen overnight.

a rugged individual, and he was. But there's something else that should be said about him - God had to train this man. God has always had a method of training the men he uses by taking them

Often it is in private that God often teaches us to trust him.
God teaches us lessons in the shadows away from the crowds.
God takes Elijah aside to teach him to completely trust him.
