1) Opening Comments
a) Welcome to all
b) Pitch for Fire in the Sky
i) Now both in Gilbert and in Queen Creek
(1) Both done in conjunction with the towns.
(2) How cool is that?
ii) Not done so we have somewhere to go see fireworks
iii) Rather, so we have somewhere to invite our neighbors to come with us to go see fireworks
2) Where We're Headed This Summer
a) The Story Series
i) On August 23-24, we will be starting a very special series
ii) It's called The Story
iii) It will give us an opportunity to understand the Bible from the beginning to the end.
iv) This will provide two things:
(1) An opportunity for you and your children to grow and learn the Bible
(a) All ages in our church will be doing this.
(b) All our Life Groups will be doing this.
(2) An opportunity for you to invite everyone you know to grow and learn the Bible.
(a) And to join your Life Group!!!
b) The 1x8 Series
i) What in the world is 1 X 8?
ii) Lego's are known by numbers
(1) A 1 X 4
(2) A 2X10
(3) How many rows and how deep?
iii) How many places to ''attach?''
iv) Our series is called 1x8
(1) One thought ''I AM''
(2) Eight applications
(a) There are eight pegs to hold eight truths.
(b) There are eight truths we want you to grab ahold of this summer!
c) The 8 ''I AM's'' of Jesus (examples)
i) The light of the world
ii) The gate for the sheep
iii) The Good Shepherd
iv) The vine
d) Today, we begin with Jesus and his claim to be the BREAD OF LIFE
i) Get out your Bible... open it to John 6
ii) Get out your Journal... Week 1
