i) Geocentricism is the idea of earth as the center of the universe
ii) Heliocentricism is the idea of the sun as the center of the universe
iii) By the 1920s Edwin Hubble had shown that all of it is part of the Milky Way galaxy
b) Picture - Copernicus
i) About 1532 Copernicus had basically completed his work disproving geocentricism, arguing for Heliocentricism
ii) Despite urging by his closest friends, he resisted openly publishing his views
iii) He didn't want to risk the scorn ''to which he would expose himself on account of the novelty and incomprehensibility of his theses.''
iv) As a sign of his fear, he dedicated his masterpiece to Pope Paul III.
