(1) Burn out rate of Pastors
(a) Nationally, 1500 pastors quit the ministry each month due to burnout, conflict or moral failure.
(b) 75% report severe stress causing anguish, worry, bewilderment, anger, depression, fear, and alienation.
(c) Pastors have the second highest divorce rate among all professionals
(d) Many feel that the greatest threat to the welfare of the family is the church they serve.
(2) Not here!
(3) Study leave for our Pastors
(a) Every seven years
(b) For me, I just take time every summer to accomplish this
(c) This way, I am never gone for any extended amount of time.

iii) What I did this round...
(1) Personal:
(a) Reflect
(b) Recalibrate
(c) Renew
(d) Rest
(2) Work:
(a) It began with a week spent with our High School Students.
(i) They held a camp in California, called a Christ In Youth Conference.
(ii) I had the privilege of speaking to them each night.
(iii) It was wonderful.
(b) Next I was asked to give the final evening message for our National Conference of Christian Churches. I spoke to our churches about or need to be serious about sharing our faith with those who don't know God.
(c) On three different weekends I preached the weekend services at three different megachurches around the nation.
(d) In between all this, I took time to read 19 books
(e) Wrote seven articles
(f) Spent extended time in conversation with other mega-church pastors and researched various churches and models of ministry.
(g) Stayed as involved as was deemed necessary in the day to day affairs of the church during this time.
(h) Concluded it all this week by attending the GLOBAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT
