b) Throughout this month we have been in a ''why we do what we do'' conversation

i) It's a ''back to basics'' month
(1) Vince Lombardi, the legendary coach of the Green Back Packers was known for holding up a football in front of his team on the first day of spring training
(a) He would say... ''Gentlemen, this is a football.''
(2) John Wooden was famous for teaching his basketball players how to put on their socks on the first day of practice

ii) Isn't this stuff everybody already knows?

iii) One might think...
(1) But the best coaches take the time to make sure everyone knows the basics
(2) What these coaches know is what it's going to take to get their team where they want them to go AND THEY COMMUNICATE IT CLEARLY
(3) This is what separates the best from the rest

iv) SO THIS MONTH WE ARE TAKING LESSONS FROM THEIR PLAYBOOKS

2) Taking A Journey

a) Lisa and I are getting ready to take a journey this week.
i) The two of us, and quite a number of people from our church are going to Israel.
(1) We've been planning and anticipating this trip for months.
ii) At this point in time that's really left to do is just to get there... You see, we're headed to Israel, so we're flying to Tel Aviv.
iii) At this point, most of us just can't wait to get there.

b) How odd it would be.... (Go on an imaginary journey with me for a moment)
i) For someone to purchase a ticket to fly to Tel Aviv...
ii) For this someone to check in at the airport for the flight to Tel Aviv...
iii) For this same someone to wait at the gate for the flight leaving for Tel Aviv...
iv) For this very same someone to get on the plane, giving their ticket to ...
