a) Luke 21 speaks about the end of two eras

i) Last week we spoke about the end of the first, today we will talk about the end of the second.

ii) They are both very similar, and yet they are both very different

iii) They both will be accompanied by ''signs''
(1) These you'll want to understand
(2) These you will want keep your eyes out for

iv) The end of the first era that Jesus talks about was the fall of Jerusalem
(1) This was covered in vss 5-24
(2) This was going to happen immanently
(3) For us... this is historical
(a) It happened in AD. 70
(4) This was mostly terrestrial
(a) It spoke of many things surrounding Jerusalem.
(b) What is most important, it happened just as Christ said it would happen.
(c) This is what you most should pay attention to.

v) The end of the second era that Jesus talks about is the end of the world... his return to earth
(1) This is vss. 25-36
(2) This was going to happen eventually
(3) For those he said it to...it was future, for us... it is future
(a) When will it happen?
(i) We don't know
(ii) Jesus said even he didn't know, only the Father
1. Which is very interesting since many people have tried to predict the exact moment that it would occur.
2. Which pretty much guarantee's it won't happen then!
(b) What will happen?
(i) My money is on that what will happen is exactly what Jesus said would happen... exactly as he said it would happen!
(ii) This is why is it worth your time to pay attention to what exactly Jes ...
