Big Idea: The world offers promises full of emptiness. Easter offers emptiness full of promise.
1) Opening Comments
a) Greetings to all
i) Happy Easter!
ii) Thank you for celebrating with us
iii) Greetings to all people on all of our campuses
b) The library card you were handed as you walked in
i) Things you don't see anymore
ii) Things you don't do very often anymore:
(1) Go to the library
(2) But remember?
(a) Walking down all the aisles
(b) The ''Dewey Decimal System?''
(c) The smell of all the books?
(3) Remember checking out books?
(a) Finding the books you wanted to read
(i) Wanting to read a story
(ii) The joy of a good book!
(b) Going to counter and checking them out
(i) They used to stamp them
(ii) You had to check them to remember when they were due
(c) Do you remember stressing when you discovered your books were LATE???
(i) You often discovered this when you were trying to check out another book...
(ii) Remember those awkward moments when the librarian confronted you?
(iii) This then morphed into worrying about the VHS you checked out from Blockbuster.
(iv) Now, the only people who retain this kind of stress are Redbox users!
iii) Overdue books that have been recently returned:
(1) The Real Book About Snakes
(a) It was checked out of the Champaign County Library in Ohio on July 17, 1972.
(b) A man returned it exactly 41 years later, along with an apologetic note and his overdue fine in cash.
(c) ''Sorry I've kept this book so long, but I'm a really slow reader!'' reads the note. ''I've enclosed my fine of $299.30 (41 years, 2 cents a day). Once again, my apologies.''

(2) The Adventures of Pinocchio
(a) It was returned recently...63 years overdue.
(b) It was supposed to be returned on New Years Eve in 1950
