(1) A man had a vineyard
(2) THREE Servants, then ONE son
(3) They killed his son
(a) This is a story about the religious leaders
(b) Jesus is telling them that they are going to kill him!
ii) What will happen as a consequence?
(1) The owner of the vineyard will destroy them
(2) He will then give his vineyard to another
iii) Luke 20:19 ''The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. But they were afraid of the people.''
c) In episode after episode he keeps indicting them.
i) The crowds are increasingly impressed with Jesus
ii) The Jewish leaders are increasingly threatened by Jesus
(1) John 12:19 ''So the Pharisees said to one another, 'See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!'''
(2) THE BATTLE IS FOR INFLUENCE OVER THE HEARTS AND MINDS OF THE PEOPLE... AND THE RELIGIOUS LEADERS ARE LOSING GROUND.
iii) The animosity toward Jesus is building!
