Ezra 1-2
How many of you like rollercoasters and amusement park rides? The faster the better! The taller the better! The more dangerous the better! Nope. Not for me. I can't handle them. They don't like me. Too many twists, turns, drops, loops and corkscrews at high speed disrupt my equilibrium. I cannot stomach them and my stomach cannot take them. I was reminded of that on vacation this year.
We had won some tickets to Six Flags so off we went. I rode a couple of coasters and enjoyed them. I did okay although the second coaster started to get to me a little and I knew I needed a break. Jordan was not keen on another coaster at the moment, which I was fine with, so while the two dare devils of the family went to stare death in the face again we decided to sit it out and wait. Sitting it out and waiting can get just a little bit boring, especially for an 8 year old so we decided to get on some ''Kiddie Rides'' that were nearby but they turned out to be ''wicked'' rides, not as in ''wicked good,'' but as in evil and malevolent.
The ride...a tilt-a-whirl. They were imported from the fires of hell. As the ride went round and round and our car spun faster and faster while going round and round I began to pray. At that moment I began to question the truthfulness of God's Word because prayer did not help. The more I prayed the faster it went. I did not think it would ever end. Scenery flashed by faster than I could focus and I questioned whether anyone was in control. I continued to pray. I began to pray for the end to come and did not really care how.
Life feels like that sometime!!
1. We have all had that experience. Life starts twisting, turning, spinning and coming faster than our minds can process and stomachs digest. We wonder if anyone is at the controls.
2. We all feel that way when trying to take in the national and international scenery. It changes so fast and is so frighten ...
