A Thanksgiving Song
Robert Dawson
1 Chronicles 16:8-12
A grandmother took her young grandson to see the ocean for the very first time. She was watching him play along the shore line when a massive wave suddenly and unexpectedly washed over the boy sweeping him out to sea. The horrified and panic stricken grandmother dropped to her knees, raised her eyes to heaven and cried out to God, begging Him to return her beloved grandson.
While she was still praying another massive wave appeared and deposited the young boy at his grandmother's feet. He was soaking wet and little bit panicky but perfectly fine. The grandmother hugged the boy and looked him over head to toe and as she stood up she looked to heaven, pointed and angry finger at the sky and snapped, ''God when he went into the ocean he had on a brand new hat and I want it back.''

That spirit of ingratitude is born from the belief that we deserve the things we do have.
1. When we believe that we deserve or have earned the things we have then we will never display gratitude to others or God.
2. What' worse is that because of our sinful, self-centered and self-exalting nature not only do we feel that we deserve what we do have but believe we deserve more.
We are called upon repeatedly throughout Scripture to be thankful, rejoice and praise God for all that He has provided and who God is.
1. A grateful person is a happy person.
2. A grateful person is a contented person.
Gratitude, a spirit of thanks, is a test of your character because it brings to light what we really believe about ourselves and about God. Gratitude does not grow in our hearts through the accumulation of more stuff but from a deeper awarenes ...
