A first grader became curious because her father brought home a briefcase full of papers every evening. Her mother explained, ''Daddy has so much to do that he can't finish it all at the office. That's why he has to bring work home at night.'' ''Well then,'' asked the child innocently, ''if he can't keep up, why don't they put him in a slower group?''

In the deep thinking, and wise words of Dr. Seuss,

I love my job, I love the pay
I love it more and more each day.
I love my boss, he is the best
I love his boss, and all the rest.

I love my office and its location
I hate I ever have to go on vacation.
I think my job is really swell,
There's nothing else I love so well.

I love this work, I love these chores,
I love the meetings with deadly bores.
I love my job, I'll say it again, I even lose those friendly men.
Those friendly men who've come today, in clean white coats to take me away!

An unemployed worker wrote:

As we slowly climb towards the peak,
We notice the millions of jobs to seek,
Yet again we plummet into this recession,
Once again halting our short-lived progression.

In the words of Ronald Reagan, ''A recession is when your neighbor loses his job. A depression is when you lose your job.'' And I might add, ''A recovery is when Obama loses his job.''
