Years ago I went to Itchnetucknee Springs to float down the river. If you have ever done that it is a lot of fun, relaxing and extremely cold. This time there was a group of foreign guests who were there. I know they were foreign guests because I did not have a clue as to what they were saying and they did not speak the native language. I am not sure where they were from, China or Japan, but they were Asian.
I don't think they knew exactly what to expect from this river and if you have ever placed your derriere in there you know exactly what I am talking about. They stood on the dock for a minute and the first guy finally threw his tube into the water and did a cannot ball into the middle of it before it had a chance to get a way and the water just washed over him and I would have given you ever penny I had if I could have understood what he said --- I am not so sure it was very nice though.
If he had been warned about how cold the water was it still would have been a shock to his system. But I have to believe a heads-up and warning would have been nice. The cold may still have been a shock to his system but his mind would have been better prepared to accept the cold truth.
Over the last few weeks we have listened in on a private conversation the aged apostle Paul has been having with Timothy. A conversation where Timothy has been encouraged to…
1. Find strength for the journey in the Lord
2. Invest the truth of God's Word in others. We want to see the Gospel message protected and passed down but we also want to see the church multiply.
3. Make pleasing God the number one priority of life
a. Jesus is the one who created us, saved you and called you and there are going to be moments in our life where pleasing Him means pleasing no one else.
4. Be willing to expend all that you have and are for the sake of the Gospel like a hard working farmer or a dedic ...
