Human beings are totally helpless to be able to take care of them selves unless God graciously provides what we needs such as: air for us to sustain our lives, children so our families continue for another generation, and sunshine along with water for crops to grow so we have food to eat

Psalm 145:15-16 The eyes of all look to you, and you give
them their food in due season. You open your hand;
you satisfy the desire of every living thing.

God not only provides for our physical needs he also provides
for our spiritual need of forgiveness for our sins against him.
No matter how much good we do it is never enough to erase
the penalty for our sins, so we stand guilty before a holy God.

Psalm 14:3 There is none who does good, not even one.
There is not one person who has not and does not sin.

God had to do something on our behalf for us to be forgiven.
He loved us so much that he sent his only Son to die on our behalf so we could be forgiven and have relationship with him.

SPECIAL ROLE
Unto us - means for our benefit because we need God's help.
God promised his people a child would be born who would help them because they were not able to deliver themselves from:
1. The nations around them who wanted to take their land.
2. Their own sins which brought God's judgment upon them.

It is by God's grace that he provides for what we need.
God promised to send a child who would give us the help we need because we could never do enough for our sins to be forgiven.
