2 Corinthians 8:10-24
If you have your Bible, please turn to 2nd Corinthians chapter 8. We want to talk tonight about Living and Giving.
I read a story today about Henry Ford, the car maker and billionaire. And he was approached one time, from a group that was asking him to donate for the construction of a medical facility. And it was a worthy cause. And so he said, after he listened to them, he said, ''All right, I'll, I'll donate five thousand dollars.'' Well, they reported to the paper and it was printed in the paper the next day, big headline, HENRY FORD GIVES $50,000 TO NEW HOSPITAL. And Ford saw that and he was pretty upset. And he called them, and he said, ''Hey, I didn't tell you I was giving $50,000. I said I was giving $5,000.'' And so they said to him, they said, ''Well, okay, we'll have the paper write tomorrow, HENRY FORD DEDUCTS $45,000 FROM HIS OFFERING. And Ford said, ''Well, that would really be bad publicity for me.'' So he agreed to give them $50,000 with this caveat: Over the door of their hospital was written this verse, ''I was a stranger and you took me in.'' So he felt scammed for sure.

Giving is very, very important in the Christian life.
Now the question - why is it so important in the Christian life? Why do we go to church at times? And you typically get this with people that go to church very rarely. They just happen to go to church and they're talking about giving. And then they don't go for five years, and they, ''Well, I'm going to go again.'' And they go and they're talking about giving. They just say, ''That's all they ever talk about at that church is giving.'' Well, the Bible has a lot to sa ...
